We’re six months into the year, and summer gives us the extra light we need to check in with ourselves. Last December, I shared a variety of end-of-year reflection questions that can help you learn from your experiences and set intentions for the year. You can explore these questions for you, your team, and your family.
Take time this summer to pause and check in with yourself:
1. What new skills am I learning, and how are they increasing my fulfillment and impact?
2. What feels unfinished that I want to finish by the end of summer? And why?
3. Why does this unfinished business matter to me? Really.
4. How are my communication and connections in my family, and what can I do to improve or foster them?
5. What’s been the biggest challenge for me so far this year? And what am I learning from it?
6. How’s my physical, mental, and emotional state?
7. How has it changed or stayed the same since January?
8. Where are my energy, time, and attention going, and what am I getting from them? Do they need an audit and redirection in any particular area?Remember the words of psychologist and philosopher John Dewey: We don’t learn from experience, we learn from reflecting on experience.
